Huay-Bing Law

Huay is a Taiwanese American director and cinematographer born and raised in Houston, Texas. His narrative and documentary films often center on marginalized Asian American stories in the Deep South. His work has earned an HBO APA Visionary Award, Princess Grace Award, and played in festivals worldwide. He's been featured in publications such as Variety, Texas Monthly, the Austin Chronicle, Angry Asian Man, and Character Media. Huay’s work as a cinematographer has played on networks and festivals across the world, including HBO, BBC, and ESPN. His latest film – Goodbye, Mother – was theatrically released in Vietnam and Taiwan.

Huay holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Texas at Austin, where he currently lectures today.

Sam Mohney

Sam is a HAPA director, cinematographer and editor hailing from Lexington, Kentucky. His work as a cinematographer has been featured on HBO and BBC as well as at film festivals around the world including SXSW, Palm Springs, and at the BAFTAs. His narrative directing work has screened at film festivals around the country, and his latest documentary project was selected by the city of Austin, TX as part of their “Faces of Austin” showcase. He was the recipient of a Voss Grant for Young Filmmakers and received multiple fellowships while working towards his MFA in Directing from the University of Texas at Austin.

He currently resides in Austin, TX.
